Hi, welcome!

I write about finding joy in the BIG moments and the little things. Let’s be happy together :)

BE, DO, HAVE

BE, DO, HAVE

I think that if 2020 taught us anything, it's that consistency has a bigger impact than intensity.

Personally, I saw more results going to the gym four times a week than doing an ¨over the top workout¨ twice a month. I didn´t read the Bible in 40 days, however, I did establish the habit of starting my day by reading five Psalms out loud. I think seasons of higher intensity are good, I have quite a few of them throughout the year, but in the long run, it's the things I do over and over that will have a big impact on my goals.

As the smell of freshly printed resolutions fills the air, I want to take this month to focus on habits. As I share what I´ve learned, I hope to inspire and give you a few tools to make 2021 your best year yet!

All I ask is for you to commit for the next 10 days. I will be posting twice a week for a total of four installments. I think a notebook and pen will help you get the most out of this series. The first five people to share about this on their Instagram stories (tag me!) will be invited to goal set on a Zoom call with me! I am no expert, but I am the friend you want in your corner cheering you on ;) To do this, I´m going to have to ask you to shake off the lazies and get ready to think and dream. :)

1. The first order of business is to CELEBRATE!

Think about one area you grew in in 2020. Write it down.

Before we move on, are you sure there's nothing else? I want you to really take a moment and consider those uncomfortable things that produced great growth in you, and write them down.

2. Now, before you tell me what you want to do in 2021, I want to know who you want to be.

We spend so much time doing that we forget we are human beings, not human doings! We think that to be someone great, we need to have certain things, and that when we have those titles, connections, or money we will be able to do big and important things. But we've got it all backwards!

One of my favorite Bible characters is Abraham, which is why I want to take the next few minutes to learn from his life. Hear me out on this, before he even had any children, he was a father. His identity didn´t come from what he had, it came from God's promises, and that is why he was able to step out in faith as he waited for Isaac. The lesson here is, the stuff is not going to make us happy this year. Let's flip it. Let's start with who we want to be, so we can do and then have as a result.. Tell me, who do you want to be as a believer? As a young adult? As a daughter/son? Disciple? Leader? Businessperson?

3A. We´re almost there guys! Now that we know who we want to be, let's set a few goals to get there.

For example, if I want to be fit and healthy, one of my goals could be to plan my meals, take vitamins, and workout 3-4 times a week.

Write down a few goals:

3B. What are you willing to commit to today to get to the goal?

Following my previous example, I can set a 10-minute timer to look up a few meal plan options. I can also download a workout calendar to follow this month.

Write at least one commitment for every goal:

3C. Staying focused.

Last year, I summed up my goals for 2020 into 10 things. Every night before going to bed, I would write them down in my journal. This began to renew my mind and helped me stay on track. You can also make them into morning declarations. For example, ¨Because I am fit and healthy, I commit to -----¨. ¨Because I am a great leader, I ------¨. This trains our minds to be in a proactive state.

Your best year starts now because thanks to Jesus we will and do amazing things! See you Thursday for installment #2!

Your friend,

Nadia Kay
