Breakfast for Your Face! (DIY face masks and my favorite products)

Not sure if other bloggers greet their readers, but I always find the need to do so, so hello sweet friends!

It is a beautiful, sunny day in Southern California, perfect for tanning by the pool and a berry smoothie! What are your plans for this weekend? I will be exploring the area today and tomorrow, Sunday, I get to share the message at two services at LICO Church. I am so excited to see what God does!

If you don’t have any plans yet, worry not! Your girl has got two DIY face masks you can enjoy over the weekend to achieve that summer glow!

#1: Egg Whites

This is my go-to mask when I don’t have a lot of time, but my skin needs a major pick-me-up. It is literally the simplest ever!

Hold the egg in your hand and with a butter knife crack the top. Separate the yolk and whites into two separate cups/small bowls. I try to wear an old T-shirt when doing this, just in case it starts dripping.

To a clean, bare face, apply the egg whites with a clean makeup brush. I like to chill the egg whites in the fridge for a few minutes for it to be extra refreshing. Once the first layer dries, I continue applying until I’ve used up all the egg whites.

Leave in for 10-15 minutes or until it dries. Rinse with warm water, and if you’re skin is not too sensitive, use a clean washcloth to gently scrub off the whites. After completely rinsing, pat dry and moisturize!

P.S. Mix the yolk in with your conditioner in a bowl to use for the ends of your hair in the shower!

#2: Oats, Banana & Honey

Breakfast for your face!

What you’ll need:

  • (Very) ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup of oats
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1-2 tbsp. of honey

Here’s what I do:

  1. Add oats and water to pot on stovetop and stir.
  2. Right before the oats are fully done cooking, I add the ripe, smashed banana.
  3. Let cool in a bowl and add honey. If you’d like more of an exfoliating mask, skip the honey and add a little bit of brown sugar.
  4. Once cool, apply to a clean, bare face. You definitely want to be wearing a towel around your neck because the oatmeal and banana will fall…thanks gravity!
  5. I leave it in for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Pat face dry and moisturize!

#3: Face cleanser and moisturizer

Above, I mentioned to have a clean face before the mask, and to moisturize after. What products do you love? Comment below! 🙂 My mom always taught me that face products were always worth investing in. Our skin deserves the good stuff!
